About Us
We at PS/MS 37 believe in valuing the whole child and the assets they bring to our school community. We commit to strengthening the social-emotional and critical thinking skills of every student while preparing for college and career. We are all teachers of ENL students. We are using EDAT and EDUR data to align instruction to meet the specific needs of our English Language Learners at all proficiency levels. All students engage in rich discussions through school wide, grade band protocols in all content areas. Teachers use data to inform and enhance core and targeted group instruction, with an additional focus on intentional tier 2 vocabulary instruction, to strengthen comprehension.
At PS/MS 37 we strive to create a learning community that values cultural and linguistic diversity, kindness, and respect.
We are creating a space where students are actively engaged in academically rigorous activities that are tailored to their individual learning styles. Our goal is to motivate students to explore and discover in order to prepare them for the real world.
As lifelong learners, we strive for staff to grow and develop innovative practices that will challenge students (and themselves) to be critical thinkers. We choose meaningful assessments and interpret data to make strategic instructional adjustments. As a learning community, we continually reflect on our practices to improve our pedagogy and to meet the individual needs of every member of our school community.
We view parents as partners in the teaching and learning experience. We seek to include the contributions of the diverse members of our school community to enrich all our lives. We strive to provide access to resources and opportunities to all families in order to raise the level of support provided for the whole child to be successful at school and in life.
